Horseshoe Bend Farm

The photographic series “Horseshoe Bend Farm” exists as a form of fictional documentary that supports the theoretical underpinnings of “On a Sheep and a Rope”.

Inspired by the historical inaccuracy and exaggeration prevalent within the Robert Flaherty’s ‘Man of Aran’ (1934), Horse Bend Farm presents the ‘documentation’ of a rural farming family, wearing garments from the collection. In doing so, the collection seeks to further blur the line between original and replica, real and fake, fact and fiction, aestheticism and utility, binaries that the garments themselves question. Historical documentation or stylized fashion editorial, the ambiguity of the series is at the core of its purpose.
